
Bruce Dart has an exciting career as a full time professional photographer, providing family portrait, high school senior portrait, and wedding photography for a wide range of clients throughout the region. For more than 20 years he has also provided photojournalism and public relations photography for Mansfield University, covering campus events, student activities and celebrity speakers as needed.
Mr. Dart is a member of numerous professional organizations, including the Professional Photographers of America where he earned Certified Professional Photographer competency in 1986. More recently he was awarded a Photographic Craftsman degree from PPA for earning 11 education merits along with 14 teaching merits. The teaching portion of the degree came from presenting programs about photographing high school seniors to other professional photography organizations throughout New York, Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
Over the years Mr. Dart has been a member of six professional organizations -- each offering seminars with some of the nation's foremost photographers. He studied for 10 years at the Triangle Institute of Professional Photography in Pittsburgh, completing as much as 50 hours of instruction during the comprehensive week-long classes.
Bruce has served on the board of directors of the Northeast Pennsylvania Professional Photographers (NPPA) and the Northcentral Pennsylvania Photographers and has served as president of both organizations. For 2003-2004 he is serving again as president of the Northcentral PA Photographers. A native of Mansfield, Mr. Dart hasn't always been a photographer, however. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Mansfield State College (now university). Following a four-year tour of duty with the United States Navy where he was trained as a journalist, Bruce worked as a news reporter and photographer for the Norwich, Connecticut Bulletin. Later he worked as a photographer for the Williamsport Sun-Gazette. From 1973 to 1979, Mr. Dart worked as Assistant Director of Public Relations at Mansfield State College, leaving to open his own business just before it became a university.
Taking a very active role in his community during the past 25 years, Mr. Dart has served on the board of numerous organizations,including the First Baptist Church in Mansfield where he has held positions as Moderator, chair of the Board of Trustees and chair of the Board of Deacons.
